FAQ

How do I change my account settings?

Change your MinecraftAFK username, login methods, password, e-mail, email preferences and account-wide dangerous settings from the User settings page.

Settings for your MinecraftAFK account itself are on one page. Settings for a single server profile, such as its address, version and reconnect delay, are on that profile's own Settings page instead: see Server profile settings.

To open it, visit minecraftafk.com/dashboard/user/settings/, or click your name at the bottom of the dashboard sidebar and pick User Settings. The page is a column of cards, from the top: Username, Login methods, Minecraft connections, Preferences, Email preferences, Push notifications and Account.

Username

Your username is the name the community sees. It's shown on the macros you publish and your forum posts, and at the top of your user menu. It isn't how you sign in.

  • It's 3 to 20 letters, numbers or underscores.
  • Nobody else can have it, in any mix of capital letters. If someone does, the card says "That username is taken. Try another."
  • Change it whenever you like. A new name shows on everything you've already published and posted, all at once.

Don't use one of your bots' names. As the card warns, a public link between you and a bot can get the bot banned.

Until you pick one, your user menu shows your Discord username if you've linked Discord, and your account name if you haven't.

Login methods

These are the ways you can sign in to MinecraftAFK. You need at least one, and you can have all three.

RowWhat it does
E-mailShows the address your account is under. Change password changes your password, and Create password sets one if you signed up with Google or Discord and never had one.
GoogleConnect links a Google account, and Disconnect removes it.
DiscordConnect links a Discord account, and Disconnect removes it. Linking Discord is required to get support in our Discord server: see Link your Discord account.

Disconnect is greyed out on your only way in, so you can't lock yourself out by accident: create a password or connect the other provider first.

Connecting a Google or Discord account that is already linked to another, unused MinecraftAFK account moves it onto this one. See Already linked to another account?

Changing or creating a password takes you through the sign-in screen to set it, then back to this page.

Microsoft is not a login method here. Signing in to Microsoft is only how you add Minecraft accounts.

Minecraft connections

This card is how you join your servers from your own copy of Minecraft, as one of your accounts. Authorised right now lists the players you've approved, each with End session. See Play from your Minecraft client.

Preferences

Streamer mode shows account_1, account_2 and so on wherever the dashboard would draw one of your account names, so you can stream or record it. It's saved in this browser rather than on your account. See Streamer mode.

Email preferences

One switch: Product updates and offers, occasional news about new features and discounts. The card shows the address they go to. Turning it off doesn't stop invoices, payment problems or notices about your account: those are part of the service and are always sent.

You can also turn the marketing emails off with the unsubscribe link in any of them.

Push notifications

Turns push notifications on for the device you're on, and lists your other devices. See Push notifications.

Account

The last card has three buttons:

  • Change password, the same as the one on the E-mail row.
  • Dangerous settings, below.
  • Log out, which signs out this browser and turns its push notifications off.

Dangerous settings

Dangerous settings opens a window of account-wide settings that are easy to get wrong and hard to undo:

  • Allow custom proxies lets you add your own SOCKS5 or HTTP proxies next to ours. It needs Tier 2 or Tier 3. Without one, an icon takes the switch's place, and hovering it says "Requires Tier 2 or higher". Custom proxies are your responsibility, so make sure they're reliable and set up right. See Proxies.
  • Saved chat messages is how many recent messages each server's chat window keeps, from 10 to 5,000, and 200 by default. Higher values keep more scrollback but use more memory and can make the chat window slower, especially with many accounts. It saves by itself a moment after you stop typing. See Chat and spam.
  • Change e-mail changes the address you sign in with and get account notices at. Like a password change, it goes through the sign-in screen.
  • Log out from all devices ends every session you have open, in other browsers and on other devices, and then logs you out here. It doesn't end Minecraft connections: end those from their own card.

Elsewhere in the user menu

  • Appearance switches the dashboard between Light and Dark, and Theme Colors picks its Primary and Neutral colours. Both are remembered by the browser you set them in.
  • Billing is where you change or cancel your plan: see How do I manage my plan?
  • Referrals is where you join the referral program and share your code: see How does the referral program work?

Deleting your account

There's no delete button in the dashboard. To have your MinecraftAFK account deleted, email legal@valoks.com. We delete what's no longer needed and keep only what the law requires, such as invoices. The privacy policy has the details.

Removing one of your Minecraft accounts is different, and you can do that yourself: see Delete an account.
