FAQ

Which Minecraft versions are supported?

MinecraftAFK's web client supports every Minecraft Java release from 1.7.2 to 26.3, and Bedrock accounts match the server's version. What changes by version.

The web client supports every Java Edition release from 1.7.2 to 26.3: 1.7.2 to 1.7.10, every 1.8 to 1.21 release, and 26.1 to 26.3. New releases are added as quickly as possible.

Bedrock accounts have no version to pick. They join on whatever version the server runs. See Does MinecraftAFK support Bedrock?

Picking the version

Each server profile has a Java version, the one its Java and cracked accounts join with. A new profile starts on the newest release, and you can change it whenever you like in the profile's Settings: see Server information.

Pick a version the server accepts. Many servers let a range of versions in. When yours isn't one of them, the server turns the account away and an Incompatible version popup shows the kick message: see Connection error popups.

Features that depend on the version

Most of MinecraftAFK works the same on every supported version. A few things depend on something a Minecraft release added or changed, so they need that release or newer:

FeatureNeedsOn older versions
Textures in the POV1.81.7 worlds are drawn in plain colours
{deathMessage} in a webhook1.8It is always blank on 1.7
The off hand1.91.8 has no off hand, so the inventory has no slot for it
The Sound plays macro event1.9.3It never fires on 1.7, 1.8 or 1.9 to 1.9.2
Saving a selection as a schematic1.13Save Selection says "Saving needs Minecraft 1.13 or newer"
Villager trades1.14The trading window opens with no offers in it, and the macro Trade step is skipped
Auto eat moving food into the off hand1.16It brings food to the hotbar instead
Command completion in chat1.19.1No suggestions as you type a command
Server dialogs in the POV1.21.6Older servers can't send them

A few notes on those:

  • Auto eat before 1.16 doesn't move food into the off hand. When the food is in the inventory, the bot swaps it into the hotbar, eats, and puts back what it moved. From 1.9 it still eats food that's already in its off hand.
  • Sound plays on an older server saves like any other macro, but nothing ever sets it off. On 1.13 and 1.13.1 it also can't hear sounds a server adds itself, only the game's own.
  • Server dialogs are the custom screens a server can put up, for rules or a login form. On Bedrock, a server's forms show in the POV in the same way.

Joining from your own game

These versions are the ones your bots can connect with. Joining mc.minecraftafk.com from your own copy of Minecraft accepts fewer releases: see Play from your Minecraft client.
