AFK fishing

Keep a Minecraft bot fishing while you're away: a Join macro that casts the rod, reels in by itself when a fish bites and casts again, for as long as the account is online.

AFK fishing keeps a line in the water while you're away. The bot casts, reels in by itself the moment a fish bites, the way a player watching the bobber would, and casts again, for as long as the account is online. The macro is short: a Join event, a step that takes the rod in hand, and a Fish step inside a loop.

What you need

  • Tier 3, to keep it going. The Fish step is on every plan, but one Fish step is one cast and one catch. Fishing for hours takes a Repeat, and loops are Tier 3.
  • A fishing rod in the hotbar. The rod has to be in the main hand, in the selected hotbar slot, when the Fish step runs. A Hold item step switches to it, but only from one of the nine hotbar slots: a rod in the main inventory isn't found.
  • The bot facing water. A cast goes where the bot is looking, and nothing in the macro walks. Park it at the water's edge, facing out, or add a Look step before the loop to set the direction.

Build the macro

  1. Visit minecraftafk.com/dashboard/servers/, open the server profile, and open its Macros page.
  2. Click Create macro, click the event card and pick Join under Runs when.
  3. Click Add step and pick Hold item. Under Item source pick Specific item, then pick the fishing rod, so the rod is in hand whatever was selected before.
  4. Add a Repeat step and set Repeat to Forever.
  5. Between Repeat and End repeat, add a Fish step.
  6. Pick the accounts it runs on and click Create macro at the top right.

The macro runs at the account's next join, and again after every reconnect. To start it now, press Run macro now, the paper plane on its row.

Each pass of the loop runs the Fish step once. The step doesn't wait for the fish: the macro carries on as soon as the line is out, and a Fish step that finds a line still out, waiting for a bite, leaves it alone. So the first pass after a catch casts again, and the loop needs nothing else. Delay between loops, one second to begin with, is the pause between passes.

Keep it safe

  • Stop conditions. To stand the macro down when a player walks up or the bot is hit, click Add stop condition on the frame round the flow and pick Player appears or Damaged under Stops when. Tick End with panic logout action to have the bot leave as well. A Player appears condition also fires for a player who is already in view when the macro starts, unless you untick Also fire if they are already nearby. See Stop conditions.
  • Before the rod breaks. A rod wears down as it fishes, and nothing in the loop watches that. A Tool durability stop condition, on the main hand and 10 uses left to begin with, stands the macro down while the rod still has a few uses in it. Swap in a fresh rod, then press Start again in the macro's Stop condition column on the Macros page.
  • Auto reconnect. It's on for a new profile, so an account that drops comes back by itself, and the Join event sets it fishing again. A macro that a stop condition stood down stays stopped until you start it again. See Starting again after a stop.

Good to know

  • No rod, no cast. Without a fishing rod in the main hand, a Fish step does nothing at all rather than right click with whatever is held, and the macro log shows a No fishing rod error.
  • The loop keeps the account to itself. A Forever loop runs for as long as the account is connected, and while it does, the account's other macros, its spam messages and anti-AFK all wait their turn. The builder marks the Repeat with a Holds the account chip. Nothing drawn after a Forever loop ever runs, so put any other steps before it.
  • Watch it fish. Open the bot fullscreen in the POV: the camera rides along while the macro runs. Take over ends the pass, so the bot stops fishing until its next join or a Run macro now.
  • Server rules. Some servers don't allow unattended play at all, and some are known to ban accounts that only ever AFK. Read the server's rules, and see Can I get banned for only AFKing?

Fishing and Repeat in the macros guide have the details of both steps.
