How do gift codes work?
A gift is a one-time payment for 1 to 12 months of a plan, for someone else. They get the gift as a code by email, redeem it in their dashboard, and the plan runs for those months without renewing.
Buy a gift
You don't need a MinecraftAFK account to buy a gift.
- Visit minecraftafk.com/pricing/ and click Buy as Gift. On the checkout page, the round gift button on the Account card does the same.
- Under Gift recipient, enter their Recipient email. The code and the instructions for redeeming it go there, so check it.
- Set the Duration: 1 to 12 months.
- Pick the tier under Choose your plan, and any Add-ons.
- Fill in your Billing address and pick a Payment method.
- Click Pay.
A gift costs the monthly rate times the number of months. The yearly discount doesn't apply, since nothing renews. Promo codes work as they do on any order, except referral and creator codes, and account credit can't pay for a gift.
Once the payment goes through, the code is emailed to the recipient. Paid in crypto, it's sent once the payment confirms on the blockchain.
Redeem a gift
- Open the link in the gift email. It takes you to Redeem a gift with the code filled in. You can also visit minecraftafk.com/dashboard/user/redeem/ and type the code, which looks like
MAFK-XXXXX-XXXXX. - Sign in, or create an account, if you're asked to.
- Click Redeem gift.
The page then says Gift redeemed, with the tier and the date it's active until. Your plan starts straight away, so you can add a server and connect.
A code is refused, with the reason under the field, when:
- You already have an active plan. Redeem it once your current plan ends.
- The buyer's payment hasn't completed yet. Try again in a few minutes.
- It isn't valid, has already been redeemed, has expired, or was refunded to the buyer.
Lost the email? With no plan, Billing links to the page: Have a gift code? Redeem it.
While you're on a gifted plan
Billing shows You're on a gifted plan and the date the gift ends. There's nothing to cancel, because nothing renews. During the last seven days, the sidebar shows Gift ending soon above your user menu.
When the gift ends, the plan ends with it, unless you've set up billing.
Keep the plan after the gift
- On Billing, click Set up billing.
- Pick Card & wallets to add a card or wallet, or pick Cryptocurrency.
- Click Set up billing.
Nothing is charged until the gift ends. Billing then shows Recurring billing scheduled with the date billing starts, and Cancel undoes it. With a card or wallet, billing starts automatically when the gift ends. With crypto, you pay the first order when it's issued, and every period after that, as described in Paying with crypto.
Once billing is set up, Update subscription plan works on a gifted plan too. A higher tier is charged now for the rest of the gift, and the billing cycle you pick is the one your recurring billing starts on. Extra proxies bought during a gift are charged for the rest of the gift, then included when your billing starts.
Expiry and refunds
An unredeemed gift code expires three years after it was bought, and each code can be redeemed once. In the year after a code expires unused, the buyer can ask us for a refund. A refunded code stops working. See How do I get support? for how to reach us.
