How do I get stars on HugoSMP?

Stars are HugoSMP's passive currency. You earn them while your account sits in the AFK zone, which you reach with the /afk command.

How to earn stars

1. Connect to HugoSMP.
2. Run /afk to enter the AFK zone. The HugoSMP setup does this for you with a join macro when you create the profile from the preset.
3. Stay online. Stars accrue for as long as the account stays in the zone.

Downtime is the only thing that lowers this. Disconnects, kicks and server restarts all cut into earnings, and anti-AFK kicks are the biggest leak. See Anti-AFK.

Why only one of your accounts is earning

HugoSMP pays stars to one account per IP address. Put five accounts in the AFK zone from the same IP and all five stay online, but only one of them earns.

This is the part that catches people out, because nothing looks wrong. Every account connects, every status is green, and the dashboard counts them all as online. The server just quietly declines to pay four of them.

Every account on your plan connects through one shared private IP by default, so out of the box every account past the first is in this situation.

The fix

Give each account its own IP by assigning it to its own proxy.

1. Buy proxies from your server profile's Proxies tab, one per extra account you want earning.
2. Drag each account onto a proxy of its own.
3. Reconnect. Each account is now on a separate IP, so each one earns stars.

An account has to be fully disconnected before its proxy can be changed, so stop them first if they are already running.
