Auto reconnect

Keep your Minecraft accounts online through kicks and restarts: where to set auto reconnect's delay and limit, when it waits longer or stops, and what the dashboard shows meanwhile.

Auto reconnect brings an account back when it drops off a server. After a kick, a server restart or a lost connection, the account waits the delay you set and then logs back in by itself, so it keeps going while your computer is off. It doesn't chase every kick, though: a few that no retry can fix stop it, and a few make it wait longer than your delay.

What you need

  • Every plan. No tier gates auto reconnect. See What does each plan include?
  • Nothing to switch on. A new server profile, one made from a ready-made setup included, starts with it on and a 60 second delay. It covers every account on the profile.

Set the delay

Auto reconnectKicked by a restart? Automatically reconnect to stay online.
  1. Visit minecraftafk.com/dashboard/servers/.
  2. Click the server profile you wish to change.
  3. Open its Settings page.
  4. In the Extra settings card, find Auto reconnect delay and check that the switch on its row is on.
  5. Type how long to wait in the field, and pick sec or min beside it.

The switch saves as soon as you flip it, and the delay once you click out of the field. The shortest delay is 5 seconds, and switching auto reconnect on with no delay set fills in 60 seconds. With the switch off, an account that drops stays Offline until you connect it yourself.

When it waits longer

A few kicks make auto reconnect wait longer than your delay:

  • The server still shows the account online from its last session. It waits at least 5 minutes, and the old session clears by itself.
  • The server is holding the login for you to confirm (the Login blocked by the server popup). It backs off, up to an hour. Once you have confirmed the login, connect the account yourself and it tries straight away.
  • The server rejects the account's version. A server that is restarting does this too, so it tries a few more times over about half an hour before it gives up.

When it stops

Auto reconnect gives up, leaving the account Offline, when:

  • The server says the account is permanently banned, or that you already have as many accounts online there as it allows. A temporary ban is retried as usual.
  • The server still rejects the account's version after that half hour.
  • The account has used up the profile's Max reconnect tries.

In each case above, the account's logs say what happened. Once it's sorted out, connect the account yourself.

It doesn't try at all after a disconnect somebody asked for:

  • Yours: clicking the account's Online or Connecting status, Disconnect Selected, or Stop connecting in a popup.
  • A macro's Disconnect or Panic logout step, or a stop condition set to End with panic logout action. See Auto reconnect and macros.
  • Auto-disconnect all accounts when one is banned, in the profile's Dangerous settings, after a permanent ban on another of your accounts there.

Nor can it bring back an account whose login Microsoft has ended. It shows Re-authenticate (or a red key beside its status while it is still online) until you sign in again.

Max reconnect tries

Max reconnect tries sits under the delay, with a switch of its own. It is off on a new profile, which means no limit. Switch it on and it starts at 10 tries, about ten minutes of trying at the 60 second delay; type a number from 1 to 1000 to change it. While auto reconnect is off, the field and its switch are greyed out.

It is for an account that keeps being kicked soon after it joins. Tries are counted in a row: staying online for 5 minutes starts the count again, and so does connecting the account yourself. An account that uses up its tries is left Offline, and the newest entry in its logs, at the top, reads Stopped reconnecting. Connect it yourself to try again.

While it reconnects

On the profile's Connect page:

  • The status reads Connecting, with a spinner, until the account is back Online, or Offline if auto reconnect gives up. Clicking it stops the account connecting, and it stays Offline until you connect it.
  • A yellow warning triangle beside the status says the last attempt failed. Hover it for the reason, click it for the account's logs. It stays until the account is back Online or you reload the page, so an account that keeps dropping stays flagged.
  • An account waiting to rejoin counts as connected, so the profile's Server IP, Bedrock port and Physics stay greyed out until it is Offline. Stop it first to change them.

For six kinds of failure, a ban and an unreachable server among them, a connection error popup also opens on that profile's Connect tab, with the server's own message. Elsewhere, a red dot on the profile in the sidebar says one is waiting. Dismiss leaves auto reconnect trying, while Stop connecting (Stop all for several accounts) stops those accounts. Every failed try is a new failure, so the popup can open again for an account that keeps failing, but not within 15 minutes of the last time. Mute error popups, in the profile's Dangerous settings, turns them off and keeps the yellow warning.

The account's logs list each connect, kick, retry and reconnect, with the time and the server's own message. Open them from the yellow warning, or with View logs in the row's ⋮ menu.

Auto reconnect and macros

A macro's Reconnect step logs the account off and brings it back after its own Reconnect after time: 5 seconds unless you change it, up to an hour. It doesn't use the profile's delay, and it brings the account back even with auto reconnect off. It ends the flow, so put it last, and keep it out of a Join macro: coming back is a join, so the macro would reconnect over and over, which the builder warns about. A Reconnect that runs too often is refused, and the macro log shows Reconnect limited. For a bot that comes back whenever it drops, use auto reconnect instead. See Reconnect.

A Disconnect step and a Panic logout leave the account off, and auto reconnect doesn't bring it back. An account a panic logout took off reads Stopped by macro on the Connect page: click that, or Reconnect on the Macros page, to bring it back and start the macro again. A stop condition with Allow macro to start again ticked brings it back by itself after its wait. See Starting again after a stop.

What is saved on the account comes back with it: held clicks, sneaking, jumping, the autoclicker and auto eat start again by themselves after a reconnect, and a Join macro runs again at every join.

Playing on the account yourself

Minecraft allows one session per account. Logging in to an account in your own game while its bot is online kicks one of the two, and with auto reconnect on, the bot logs back in after its delay. Disconnect the account in the dashboard first. For the same reason, the dashboard won't have one account online from two profiles for the same server at once: see Already connected elsewhere.
