Player tracers

See every player near your Minecraft bot at a glance: a line from the crosshair to each one, through walls and off the edge of the view, coloured by how far they are from the bot.

A first-person view only shows what's in front of the bot. Press P in the POV and tracers show who else is about: a line from the crosshair to every other player around the bot, through walls and off the edge of the view, coloured by how close each one is to the bot. Nobody walks up behind it unseen.

The minimap shows who's around from straight above, and the zoom brings a player at the far end of a line up close.

What you need

  • Every plan. No tier gates tracers.
  • The fullscreen view. The lines are drawn on the live world, and only fullscreen draws it. On a card in the grid, P does nothing.
  • The bot online, with physics on. With physics off the bot keeps no world to draw them on. See What are bot physics?

Turn them on and off

TracersA line to every player near the bot, coloured by how close they are.
  1. Visit minecraftafk.com/dashboard/servers/.
  2. Click the server profile you wish to use.
  3. Click the POV page.
  4. Open the bot fullscreen, with the fullscreen button on its card.
  5. Press P. Press it again to take the lines away.

Tracers are off whenever the view opens. Once on, they stay on until you press P again or leave the view, and they carry over when the up and down arrow keys switch the view to another bot. On a phone or tablet, P is a button (see below).

F1 lists P with the rest of the keys. With no other player around, tracers that are on look just like tracers that are off, so on that screen the row says which: Player tracers: ON or Player tracers: OFF.

What a line shows

Each line runs from the crosshair, in the middle of the view, to the middle of a player's body, and follows them as they move. It's drawn over the whole picture, so it shows through walls and the ground: a player behind a house or in a cave under the bot still gets one.

A player outside the view still gets a line. For one off to the side, it runs off that edge of the view towards them. For one behind you, it runs off the edge on the side to turn to: someone behind you and to the right gets a line off the right edge.

The colours

The colour says how far that player is from the bot, shading smoothly from one step to the next:

Distance from the botColour
Up closeRed
10 blocksOrange
20 blocksYellow
30 blocksYellow-green
40 blocks or moreGreen

It's measured in a straight line from where the bot stands, so height counts: a player 20 blocks below the bot in a mine is as yellow as one 20 blocks off across the ground. And it's measured from the bot rather than the camera, so with the freecam out the colours still say how close each player is to the bot.

Who gets a line

Every other player with a name gets a line, your own other bots on the server included. So does a player whose team hides its name tag: the tag is hidden, the player isn't. And so does one who's sneaking, though the game hides a crouching player's name tag behind walls and past 32 blocks.

Players with a blank name get none, which leaves out the NPCs and hologram lines many servers build from them. Mobs get none either, even one with a name tag, and nor does the bot itself, even when F5 shows its body.

Third person, freecam and zoom

The lines move with the picture however you look at it. Camera and view tools has the keys.

  • Third person (F5). Both views take the crosshair away, as the game does, and the lines start from the middle of the screen, where it would be.
  • Freecam (F6). The lines start from the freecam's crosshair, wherever you've flown it, and still end on the players.
  • Zoom (Z). The lines stay on the bodies as the view narrows and widens again.
  • View Bobbing. With it on in the Game Menu, the end of each line sways with the picture as the bot walks, and the start stays still in the middle of the view.

While a macro runs

Tracers only change what you see and send nothing to the bot, so they keep working while a macro runs on it, when the keys that touch the bot stand down. The camera rides along with the bot then, so the lines start from wherever the macro has it looking. F5 and Z still work, but the freecam doesn't. See While a macro is running.

On a phone or tablet

In the fullscreen view, tracers are the Player tracers button, lit while they're on. Tap it to turn them on, and again to turn them off. It works while a macro runs, as P does.

  • Upright, it's along the top with Map, Freecam, Walk there and Debug screen.
  • On its side, the phone or tablet puts every view button in the row along the top, Player tracers included. They step aside while chat, the inventory or another screen is open.

The info button at the top names every button.
